An emerging political economy dimension further complicates this landscape. Large technology firms and private health platforms are actively shaping the direction of AI integration, often moving faster than public institutions can respond. This rapid pace creates a governance gap where commercial incentives begin to influence clinical and public health decision-making. In such an environment, efficiency risks becoming a proxy for profitability rather than a measure of true population health improvement.
